Women  Preachers

I Timothy 3:2

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife,

There is a lack of men preachers in this world.  Plenty are called, but obviously not all answer.  That is why there are women preachers.  They had to fill the gaps that men won’t answer the call to.  If men would step up as requested by God, women would be glad to support the men who take on the task.

I am speaking in generalities here and I know that some women are going to preach no matter what, especially if they can preach on TV and at conferences and as guest speakers in big churches for the big bucks while promoting their books.  But that doesn’t make it Biblically right.

Did you know there are no women preachers in the Bible?  Every mention of a preacher in the Bible is about a man.  God chose man to take care of the woman and He chose woman to help the man.

Sir, you want to be happy, take care of your woman and adore her for doing all the things that you cannot possibly do (too numerous to list).  Give her security and romance and she will be willing to sacrifice all for you.

Mam, you want to be happy, take care of your man and adore him for doing all the things that you cannot possibly do (like trimming your palm trees and scaring people away from hell).  Give him support and romance and he will be willing to sacrifice all for you.

Now, this is not a doctrinal issue.  I have heard on the radio with my own ears a wolf say that people attending a church with a woman preacher are going to hell along with the woman.  This is not true of women preachers, followers of women preachers, or any other misguided soul.  This is a wolf howling at the moon.

Within two minutes of saying this, he went on a tirade of having evidence of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues to prove your salvation.  Where there is one idiotic statement, there are usually many others.

This is not to say that women must keep silence in the church in all situations.  That verse (I Corinthians 14:34) is in the middle of an entire chapter about confusion in the church from people speaking in “tongues” (foreign languages).  It does not universally apply.

How boring would a church be with completely silent women?  Pretty boring!  And what do you do about a woman without a husband to learn with her at home, especially when it is not her fault she is alone?  Or a woman that is the spiritual mastermind of the family?

A woman can do practically everything needed in the church except be the preacher or pastor.  She, and all males, are not to cause confusion of some kind.

I Corinthians 14:33 & 40

33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

The preacher’s position requires the male make-up to handle things the way God wants them handled.  You instinctively know this is correct as it has actually been this way for about 5,950 years out of 6,000.  God doesn’t change horses on the backstretch.

I have no problem with qualified women teachers, just don’t preach to men.  Teach - yes.  Preach - no.  (Men teachers are also to be qualified and it is not recommended for one man to preach to a female audience.)

It is difficult for a woman to be forceful enough to preach effectively to men and it is difficult for men to take it as needed.  It wasn’t meant to be and you should not try to force your thoughts on God (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Having said that, ladies, if there is no qualified man around to preach and there are people that need to hear the gospel, give it to them.  Just

what you are talking about.
